Independent Living

Residents in University Village's Independent Living cottages and apartments are active older adults who do not need assistance with daily tasks. Residents may select a one or two bedroom cottage, or a studio, one or two-bedroom apartment floor plan. All the apartments and cottages at University Village have spacious rooms and large closets with plenty of storage space. Residents furnish their own apartment or cottage.

Included in one affordable monthly fee are a variety of services and amenities: all utilities, basic expanded cable television, local telephone, weekly housekeeping and flat linen service, routine maintenance, 24-hour security, shuttle bus service, and all meals for apartment residents. (Cottage residents may purchase a meal plan or individual meal tickets.)

Assisted Living

University Village offers Assisted Living apartments for residents who need a little extra help with activities of daily living. Residents in Assisted Living may choose a studio, one or two-bedroom apartment with an efficiency kitchenette. Residents furnish and decorate their own apartment. For added convenience, Assisted Living has its own activity room and a dining room that serves the same delicious meals offered in the main dining room.

Included in one affordable monthly fee are a variety of services and amenities including: all utilities, basic expanded cable television, local telephone, weekly housekeeping and flat linen service, routine maintenance, 24-hour security, shuttle bus service, and all meals.

Assisted Living residents also benefit from the assurance of three defined levels of personal care. Depending on the level of care necessary, services may include: dispensing and monitoring of medications as prescribed by resident's primary care physician; bed making; mail delivery; assistance with bathing and dressing; daily reminders for meals, appointments and activities; assistance to the dining room, hair salon, and activities; coordination of physician's appointments; regular rounds by nursing staff; wound care and treatments by licensed staff. Special help is provided for all diabetics.

Health Center

When more extensive care is required, residents and their families can count on the convenience and personal attention found in our 80-bed Health Center. The Health Center is staffed 24 hours a day with licensed nursing personnel and an on-call physician.

Safety features found in the Health Center include: handrails, heat sensors, sprinkler system, two-way call buttons, grab bars in the bathrooms, plus code alert monitoring. Each room is furnished, including a color television, and residents are encouraged to decorate with their own personal items. Meals are served in a centrally located dining room/sunroom or in the resident's room. Activities are planned and directed by the Health Center's Activities Coordinator, and the Social Services Coordinator visits with residents regularly.
